Technical Difficulties
Technical Difficulties was a comic series I wrote and was illustrated by friend Lexi Stewart. I interviewed members of my POSSE cohort about our experiences as all BIPOC POSSE students at a predominately white university. The project focuses on the "technical difficulties" of being students of color recruited by predominately white institutions, only to find themselves thrown into a space that was not designed nor accommodates them and their needs, in addition to the lack of resources.

The Process:
The way we created each individual comic was that I interviewed my POSSE members about their experiences being BIPOC students at a PWI and from those interviews selected one or two stories and then Lexi Illustrated the art for it. I am very grateful to everyone involved in the project and hope to one day expand it to highlight more BIPOC experiences at PWIs.

Meet Amirah
Amirah's time at her PWI taught her valuable lessons about assimilation and finding your own community.
Meet Armando
Armando discusses some of the initial challenges he faced while pursuing a creative department major at his PWI.
Meet Daweed
Daweed's unique upbringing outside of his PWI made him very reflective of his life and experiences there.
